Virgil Olney McKee, Jr.

January 3, 1929 – September 5, 2015

Virgil Olney McKee, Jr., a proud father (his first greatest achievement) and Marine (his second greatest achievement), passed from this life on September 5, 2015. He was 86. Virgil was born in Abilene, Kansas to Virgil Olney and Ester (Ehrsam) McKee on January 3, 1929. He had three brothers; Olney, Lewis, and Quentin McKee, as well as two sisters; ValJean Wensel and Patsy Little.

Virgil graduated Abilene High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served in both the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. He proudly protected and defended his country for twenty years until he retired as a Staff Sergeant.

Virgil enjoyed restoring classic Oldsmobiles, cheering for the Kansas State football team, and fishing. He was a member of The Chosen Few and Kustom Kemps of America.

Virgil is survived by his loving wife Doris, daughter Susan Skrapka and her husband Carl, two grandchildren, as well as numerous friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Chisholm Creek Baptist Church, 17600 N. Western Avenue, Edmond, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, September 11 at 1:00 P.M. at the Abilene Cemetery in Abilene, Kansas.
