Virginia Chappelle Obituary

Virginia Dobbins Chappelle, 93, passed February 6, 2025

Born September 3, 1931, in Berkeley, California, Virginia Ruth Dobbins spent her early years in the Bay Area. "Ginnie" attended Anna Head School and later graduated from Mills College, both in Berkeley. In 1953, she married Dick Chappelle, with whom she built a loving family until his passing in early 2011.

Family was Ginnie's greatest priority. She was devoted to building strong bonds across generations. She is survived by Susan Meland (John), Michael (Amy), David (Betsy), and Kent (Jill), as well as 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her brother Allen Dobbins of Portland, Oregon, also survives her.

In 1962, Dick and Ginnie moved to Mercer Island, WA, where our Mom lived an active and fulfilling life. She was an avid skier and tennis player who found joy in outdoor adventures. She also loved boating, traveling, and gardening. Ultimately Ginnie and Dick moved into the downtown Seattle community. In 2010, they made their final move to Mirabella Seattle. Ginnie was a woman of deep faith who most recently worshipped at Trinity Episcopal Church, Seattle. She also dedicated much of her time to volunteering and supporting numerous charitable organizations throughout her life.

Ginnie's warmth and generosity touched many lives. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to: Mirabella Seattle Foundation, Trinity Episcopal Church, or FareStart.
