Virginia Lowe Garland PINSON, Ala. Virginia Lowe Garland, 88, passed away Monday evening, March 15. She lived most of her life in Mountain City, Tenn., until 1994, when she moved to Alabama near her children. She tirelessly served as devoted mother, wife, daughter, and eldest sister. She is preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Roger Farthing and Rud Garland of Johnson County, Tenn.; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Farthing of Pinson; her parents, Jacob B. Lowe and Essie Williams Lowe; and five siblings, David, Mildred Davis, Harry, Benjamin, and Jimmy. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Farthing; her son and his wife, Bill and Phyllis Farthing all of Pinson; her grandson and his wife, Matthew and Dawn Farthing; four great grandchildren, Ann Elizabeth, Will, Katie, and Paul, all of Vicksburg, Miss.; sister, Nora Lowe, of Cleveland, Ohio; stepson, Roger Garland of Mineral Bluff, Ga.; and stepdaughter, Becky Anderson of Cordova, Alaska. The family will receive friends from 1 -3 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2010, in East Side Memory Chapel of Hux~Lipford~Teague Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Park.
