Virginia "Gina" Ketchaver Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 19, 2025.
Virginia Maria "Gina" Ketchaver, of Canton, Ohio, passed away with her closest friends at her side after a long and brave battle with an extended illness on September 3, 2025.

Gina was born on September 11, 1965, to Sylvia and Robert Ketchaver. Gina grew up in Willowick, Ohio and graduated from North High School in Eastlake, Ohio in 1983. Eventually, Gina moved to Canton. Throughout her lifetime, Gina worked at Spectrum as a customer service representative, at TRW in Lyndhurst, Ohio and finally, at Furbay Electric in Canton, Ohio for the last 20 years of her career.

Gina was a lifelong Christian and a former member of both the Worldwide Church of God in Cleveland and of Faith Family Church in North Canton for many years. She also regularly attended Bethel Cleveland. Gina loved horses as a young child and held on to that love throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling and during her lifetime, she visited many places that fascinated her including Scotland and Israel. She loved to read and spent a lot of time studying faith-based topics. She mostly enjoyed and cherished spending time with those she loved. She was faithful and loving to all those close to her.

Gina was generous with her time and resources; she never hesitated to help take care of her circle of people. Gina was somebody who could always be counted on to stand up for what is right. Gina endured and overcame a lot of tragedy in her life; yet she continued to love and see the good in other people. Her faith in God never wavered and she remained a steadfast soldier of faith to the end. Gina did not marry and did not have children of her own.

After a severe medical event in 2021 that left her unable to live on her own, Gina has resided in several nursing homes including Altercare of Nobles Pond in Canton, Shady Lawn in Dalton and most recently Glenwood in Canton.

Gina leaves behind her brother Stevan, sister Jordana, Uncle Dennis, Aunt Earlene, two nephews, and two great nieces, and her special closest friends, Cindy Behm and Nathan Kidd. Gina's other close friends included Eleanor Zavada, Bonnie Hodge, Jill Sullivan, Dawn Lammlein, Becky Blair, and Leandra McAfee.

Gina was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother, her father, and an uncle. Those who loved her on this earth may take comfort in knowing she is with her mother again.

Gina was also preceded in death by her pets who she deeply loved: her dog Bear, her cats Boo Boo, Peaches, and Boots.

Calling hours will be held at Wanton Horne Chapel of Love in Cleveland. Burial information will be shared as soon as it is scheduled. Celebration of Life for Gina will be held at Faith United Methodist Church in North Canton on Friday October 31 from 3pm to 7pm.

Flowers for the calling hours, once scheduled, can be sent to Wanton Horne Chapel of Peace in Cleveland. Flowers for Celebration of Life on October 31 can be sent to Faith United Methodist Church in North Canton.
