Virginia Marie Meszczenski, age 85 of Sterling Heights, died Sunday, October 23, 2005 at Autumn Woods Health Care Facility in Warren. Virginia was born December 24, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of the late Anthony Andrysiak and the late Frances (nee: Stoinski) Andrysiak. She is survived by her loving daughter Susan (Ken) Schultz. Beloved sister of Irvin Andrysiak, and the late Irene Temrowski, Edna Kohlman, and Art Andreshak. Dear Aunt of Marilynn McDonald, Donald Temrowski, Godmother of James Temrowski, Allen Andreshak, Karen Russette, and the late Joyce Scherz. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley. Virginia was raised in Detroit and attended Sweetest Heart of Mary grade school, and then went on to attend St. Anthony High School graduating class of 1937. After high school Mrs. Meszczenski graduated from St. Joseph Mercy nursing school in 1941 as a registered nurse, and then went to work for General Motors as a plant nurse. After marriage she worked part-time for five years as a RN at St. Joseph Mercy hospital. After her daughter was raised, Virginia went back to work at St. John Hospital in Detroit from 1968-1984, until her retirement at age 65. Mrs. Meszczenski will be remembered by her coworkers at St. John Hospital as Mack. Virginia was an avid card player enjoying poker and pinochle. Her family will remember her great Polish cooking, and her specialties head cheese, meat pierogis, homemade noodles, and czarnina (Polish duck soup). Visitation for Virginia will be Tuesday October 25th from 2-9 pm, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common, (12 mile). Mrs. Meszczenski will lie in state Wednesday 9:30 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, until time of Funeral Mass 10:00 am. Officiating the funeral will be Reverend Fr. John Hall. Memorial donations appreciated to the Alzheimers Association Greater Michigan chapter, 20300 Civic Center Drive, Suite 100, Southfield Michigan 48076.
