Vito Lograsso Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 10, 2017.
Vito Lograsso was born on March 18, 1929 to Lorenzo and Rosie Lograsso. He was the sixth of seven children. Except for his sister Frances, they had all predeceased him.
Vito was born and raised in Little Italy. He went to Washington Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High School and San Diego High School.
Vito and Lucia, his loving wife of 55 years, grew up together in Little Italy. Both families were commercial fishermen. Vito fished on the family boat, the Venezia, then had a stint in the U.S. Army. When he came back home he joined the family business again. Vito married Lucia in 1962 and together they raised their three children: LuAnn (Jason), Rosie (Rick) and Lawrence. Over time, their family has grown to include four grandchildren: Vito, Sadie, Isabella and Gianna. His children and grandchildren were the love of his life.
Vito and his brother Pete went on to partner on the fishing vessel the Lu Marie and later the Nancy. His son Lawrence fished alongside him for 25 years. Vito fished over 65 years. He loved to cook, garden, make puzzles, play cards and games with his grandchildren. He loved to watch many sports and old western movies.

Vito died peacefully on February 6, with all of his family surrounding him at his bedside.

In lieu of flowers, the family has kindly suggested a donation to Our Lady of The Rosary Parish at 1629 Columbia Street, San Diego, California 92101 or St. Vincent's De Paul Elementary School at 4077 Ibis Street, San Diego, California 92103.

Our Hearts Goes out to the Family's. I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad and wonderful Husband. He was a good man. I will never forget when he would say hi to us. He always had a smile on his face where he was at. God Bless you all at this sad time. If you need anything we are right next door.

As a kid I was at my grandmother's all the time. I saw alot of my uncles. In 1976 I was lucky enough to make 4 trip's on the Lu Marie. Boy did my uncle Vito love the ocean. He was always a super nice guy and a great uncle. God Bless and rest in peace Uncle Vito.
