Born in Paxville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Benjamin Touchberry and the late Anna Agnes Peavy Touchberry.
Mrs. Thomas was twice married, first to m late Liston Bailey, Sr. and then to the late Clyde E. Thomas. She was a member of Lake Marion Baptist Church of Santee.
Surviving are a son, Liston H. Bailey, Jr. and his wife Florence; a daughter-in-law, Renee Bailey; son-in-law, Roy Dickerson, all of Sumter; a sister-in-law, Lila Holland of Florence; 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren and two dear friends, Margaret Kelly and Heidi Teague, both of Sumter.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by a son, Marion Bailey; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Dickerson; three brothers, Carlisle Touchberry, Joseph Rollin Touchberry and Mottie Edward Touchberry; two sisters, Ollie Lee T. Galloway and Lottie T. Steverson.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2004 in the chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Tripp officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sumter Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Powell, Dean Quesenberry, Brad Dennard, Bruce Reynolds, Mobley Touchberry, Bobby Odom and Wayne Galloway.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Larry Dickerson, Tommy Bailey, W.M. Dickerson, Marion Bailey Jr., Joey Bailey, Robbie Boykin, Brad Dickerson and Michael Dalton.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, 56 Westwood Dr.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
