W. Clark Eads, age 78, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022. He was born January 5, 1944, to the late Harry and Louise Eads in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Clark was the beloved husband of the late B. Karen Eads for nearly 57 years; loving father of Clark (Karen) Eads; cherished Pops of grandchildren, Olivia and Wil Eads and sweet grandpup, Stewart; dear brother of Jeannette (the late Tony) DeSalvo, Steve Eads, and the late Beverly (Lonnie) Jackson and Phyllis (Tom) McFarland. He is also survived by a host of treasured nieces, nephews, and friends.
Clark was a caring soul who passionately spent over 30 years nurturing youthful minds by teaching and coaching at both Norwood and Oak Hills High Schools. He was an avid golfer and longtime Caddy Master at Losantiville Country Club. Clark found deep joy in his faith and helping others by gifting his time, his talent, and his treasure. He was an integral leader of the Norwood Alumni Association, and supported groups like World Mission, local children’s ministries, Evans Scholars, and numerous others. Clark loved finding time to gather family and friends to share a meal. He amassed friendships across the country with his kindness and generosity. Clark will be missed tremendously by all who were blessed to have been loved by him.
Gathering will be held on Thursday, October 27th from 2:30p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 5:30p.m. at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 10211 Plainfield Rd. (45241). Guests are invited to a reception in the funeral home Community Room following service. I just saw this and my heart hurts. I had Mr. Eads 2 of my 3 years at OHHS. I was a difficult teen, rebellious. Somehow Mr. Eads was able to get me into his classes. I enjoyed learning in them and still retain quite a bit of what he taught. I am grateful that I was able to speak with him years after I graduated and tell him how glad I was that I had him as a teacher. I know this is late, but I wanted his family to know the reach he had into so many lives.

I knew Clark from Waterworks Park around 1960 or 1961. I was from Marsh Park and we played them in a softball game. I was 12 years old at time and I was the pitcher. He was 16 years old at the time. Our Park Leader was Pat Higgins at that time. I said to Pat Higgins they all look pretty big to me. He laugh and said go out and play. Waterworks Park kids were always bigger than us. Clark was on second and a ball was hit to left field. Clark was coming around third to score. I had the idea I would catch the ball and tag him out. Very bad idea. I was in the base line and he knocked me down, dropping the ball. After the game, he told me baseball is tough and he was sorry I knocked you down kid. Play hard and take your knocks. Always get us and keep trying. By the time I entered Norwood High School, he had graduated.
I always remember those words. I am sorry for his passing. I know that his family and friends miss him.
I am glad he helped so many in life.

What a nice man! Knew him through being a golf memeber of LCC for many years. Had not seen him for a time as I am no longer a member for a number of years. He was great with the cadies and was a good mentor. Sad to hear of his passing. May his memory be for a blessing (remember the good times with him).

Clark, I'm so sorry to read this about your beloved father. He sure was a kind man to so many; especially Evans Scholars and young caddies. He will be greatly missed by many. I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier so I could have attended the funeral. I'll be praying for all the family that God will bless you all with all the great memories of him and that you'll meet again someday. God bless.

I met Mr Eads through my dad. They knew each other from their time working together at LCC and he took me to Mr Eads to train as a caddy at age 11. I later found out that Mr Eads told my dad, “bring him out and we will see how he does but we can probably try again next year or when he’s 13 to caddy.” After that day I caddied for Mr Eads and he was blown away that an 11 year old kid could keep up with him on the course and carry his bag. From that moment it changed my entire life. Throughout the years caddying my goal was to get the Evans Scholarship and go to The Ohio State University. When it came time for my scholarship interview, one of the first people to greet me that day and sit in one of the first two rows was Mr Eads. He took a chance on me at age 11 and he couldn’t have been prouder to see how far I had come from that first day on the course. Not only did he affect my life, but helped push along my brother into carding so he could get the Evans Scholarship as well to Ohio State. If it has not been for Mr Eads saying yes to me all those years ago myself and my families lives might be a lot different. I owe a lot of my journey in life to him and he will be deeply missed! My sincere condolences to everyone in the Eads family!

Working with Clark at Waterworks many years ago, I had the opportunity to observe his warmth, humor, kindness and respect for folks of all ages and backgrounds. He was a friend, a teacher and just a really good guy during those days. He’ll be sincerely missed by all that he influenced. My sympathy to family and friends

He will be sadly missed. What a great guy. All around friend, husband, father, grandfather. Clark had so many friends. We went at the same Norwood High School. He was in my sisters class. His son Clark went to St. X where my son went too. My thought and prayers go out to his family . My deepest sympathy. Cookie Groves Young.

He was my favorite teacher at Oak Hills, class of 90. He would squirt kids with a super soaker if they fell asleep in class. I ran into him a few times in his home town when I was a police officer. RIP. Mr. Eads.

I met Clark through some of his Norwood friends. I was a teacher, too, loved playing golf with him, and always appreciated his invitations to play at Losantiville, and to help train his caddies. I saw him a few years ago at RedsFest, and he knew me immediately. We weren't close friends, but seeing and talking with him there several years from those golfing days made me feel like a close friend. Oddly enough, I thought about him a few days ago, and I'm saddened to hear of his passing. Keep your fond memories and pictures of him.

Clark,
I remember you in fifth grade, when I was new to North Norwood, out there on the playground with Alvin Averbach, Dave Munz, Jim Ballinger, and all the other boys who could catch and throw so well, us all playing "Keepaway," or "Fox", or "Boys after Girls" or "Girls after Boys" (the last game "born" at our school, created by our class I was told. You tried to make it from one corner of the playground to the other without being caught and thrown in the "jail", which was at the far corner across from Jerry McClellan's house). What I loved about you, Clark, was that when you were in high school, you were always a top athlete, playing all sports, participating in all the clubs, but always a friend to all. I remember the fun we had at a "Hawaiian Pizza Party" I had in my basement for the Silhouette Staff and we had that limbo contest that Bob Stevenson won. I also remember the emails I received for many years of all the dinners you arranged once a month at various restaurants in Cincinnati. I would have given anything to attend, but was always miles away. You were an incredible "team player," gathering everyone together, and a great storyteller. You and Karen did so much for Norwood High School, for the athletes, for the scholars, for the city--you will always be remembered and celebrated, and I wish you and Karen peace, glory, and happiness in your eternal rest (Well, maybe not rest--you'll be up there sprinting, catching, throwing, telling a story or two, and making sure everyone feels welcome.)

During the years that I taught English at Oak Hills High School, Clark was very often a friendly presence in the hallway, or in the cafeteria. We used to have great conversations; he was a help to my son, Ben, by encouraging him to become a caddy at the Lossntiville Golf Club. Like me, my son liked and respected Clark, and I was sorry to hear of his untimely passing.
I live in far southwest Colorado now, and it is unfortunately all too easy to lose touch, but I have never forgotten Clark. He was a very fine person and affected the lives of everyone who knew him in some way. Please accept my deepest sympathy, Jerry Morris.

I graduated with Clark from Norwood High School in 1962. He was such a kind, gracious and considerate person who was very popular with everyone; students and teachers. Years after we graduated, we both worked for the Oak Hills Local School District and there again he was very well liked and respected. My daughter ad him for a teacher at Oak Hills High School and said he was one of the best teachers she ever had. I feel blessed to have know such a wonderful Christian man as Clark and my family and I send our very deepest sympathy to his family.

I had Mr. Eads for Anatomy and Physiology (OHHS class of 1995). Three things I remember vividly about that class was doing all of the organ dissections, Mr. Eads talking about how bad his own vision was (something like 20/300), and the field trips (one to UC Med Gross anatomy lab, and another that the top couple of scores on a test got to go observe a spinal surgery).
I went to UC med for grad school and studied Neuroscience and remembered those field trips fondly when I took neuroanatomy.
I now work for Carolina Biological (where most, if not all of OHHS's dissection specimens came from) and think of him and his class nearly every time I work on a project involving our preserved organs.
Mr. Eads and his vision also passed through my mind several years ago when I was designing a high school lab kit around human vision. I had the Snellen eye chart (the chart with the big E on top you see at the eye doctors) tacked to the wall in my office. Every time I looked at it made me think of his stories about how bad his vision was without his glasses.
I'm so grateful for the time I spent in his class.
RIP Mr. Eads.

When I came to Cincinnati in 1991, Clark and Jack B hired me to work the backroom at the country club. Clark was a great man and friend to all. Through the years we would see eah other at the hall of fame dinners and catch up. I will truly miss Clark but will never forget him either.

Clark was one of the most popular people in our years at Norwood High, he could have been a snob but instead he was a friendly guy to everyone. It appears that he stayed true to himself through out his life. Prayers for his family. RIP Clark.
