Waldemar RUDER Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from Sep. 3 to Sep. 4, 2015.
RUDER, Waldemar "Wally"
It is with deep sadness that the family of Wally Ruder announces his passing in Calgary, AB on August 28, 2015 at the age of eighty-one years. Wally was born in Yakabow, Poland to John and Erna Ruder. Wally immigrated to Saskatoon, SK, Canada with his family when he was sixteen. At the age of twenty-one he fell in love with Gisela and they were married in 1960. Wally was a baker and owned one of Saskatoon's finest bakeries, Golden Sheaf. After he sold the business, Wally worked at many trades prior to retiring at CSP foods in the maintenance department. Wally and Gisela raised their three children in Saskatoon, who all presently reside in Calgary. Wally welcomed everyone into his home, where his yard was his paradise for his children and grandchildren. He had a natural ability to grow flowers and vegetables. He enjoyed visiting with friends and living a healthy lifestyle. He had a passion for dancing, baking and cooking for family and friends. Wally will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-five years, Gisela; children: Lorie (Shawn) Donst, Nancy (Ryan) Lissel and Harley Ruder (Donna Kwan); ten grandchildren: Amanda (David) Supina, Graham, Mark, Grant, Kayla, Kirk, Kyle, Keaton, Benjamin and Joe; and sister Edith (Horst) Arndt. Wally was predeceased by his parents John and Erna Ruder and sister Margaret (Dieter) Freitag. Memorial donations may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church (812 Preston Avenue, Saskatoon, SK S7H 2V2). A Memorial Service to celebrate Wally's life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church (812 Preston Ave.). Family and friends may send online condolences from www.hillcrestmemorial.ca. Arrangements entrusted to Phil Fredette and Jamie Rugg. In living memory of Wally Ruder, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park, Calgary.

Dear Gisele and Family, We were so very sad to read about Wally's passing . We are sorry we are out of town this weekend and unable to attend his memorial service. Len will always remember the many good conversations he had with Wally as they worked together at CSP Foods. They shared about their families and he learned a lot from Wally. Wally was a true friend you could always count on. We will remember our nice visits together with you and Wally at the CSP Christmas parties. He was indeed a kind gentle soul and he made this world a much better place. We will always cherish to great memories we have of Wally. May God bless you and your family with His strength and peace as you say "so long for now" until you meet again.

Wally was one of the kindest people I have ever known. Despite the many hardships of his early life, he was motivated to do kind acts to anyone he knew. He taught me a lot about forgiveness and generousity of spirit. I shall miss him. Rest in peace Wally!
