Nampa - Dean was born April 9, 1943, in Burley, Idaho. He passed away into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on December 7, 2022 at his home in Nampa, Idaho.

At the young age of 16 he began helping his father at the hospital taking X-rays. Being a "Straight A Student," he received a full-ride medical scholarship. However his love for baseball won out when the Chicago Cubs farm team recruited him to play ball. He was a catcher, and holds the record for the highest High School batting average in Idaho. However his baseball career did not last long after he was injured.

He received his registry as an X-Ray Technician, then was drafted into the army. He served time in Vietnam, and soon became platoon medic. After returning home from the service, he attended Weber State College. He was on the faculty as the X-Ray Student Coordinator, taught anatomy, physiology, and used the GI bill to get his Registered Nursing degree. Later he received his registry as a Cardiovascular Technologist, and worked in nuclear medicine at Mercy Medical Hospital, where he retired after 31 years.

In 1997 he graduated from Spirit Life Bible College in Ocala, FL.

Dean married the love of his life, Virginia, in 1989 and had a wonderful blended family. They had 33 years together. He was blessed with 7 children: Teresa Jacobsen of Tucson, AZ, twin sons, Brian and Steven Jacobsen (both of whom preceded him in death), Dan Jacobsen (Cassi) of Maricopa, AZ; Susan Buck of Meridian, ID, and Virginia's children: Jill Rau (Jeff) of Oregon, WI, and Greg Webber (Patricia) of Nyssa, OR. He enjoyed 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, one sister Carol Stout (Leon) Burley, ID, and many cherished nieces and nephews and friends.

Dean was an avid fisherman. He would tell stories of the dozens or sometimes hundreds of fish he caught, which seemed outrageous but the stories were indeed accurate.

Dean loved sports, and coached his son Dan's Little League baseball team. He officiated high school, as well as college basketball, football, and refereed at the Rose Bowl one year.

He was preceded in death by his twin sons, his parents Charles Merrill and Bertha Mae Jacobsen, one sister Betty Workman, and two brothers, Vernon and Terry Jacobsen.

Dean's family would like to express their gratitude to Keystone Hospice for the wonderful, loving care of our precious loved one.

Dean will be laid to rest at the VA Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.
