Wallace D. �Tex� Whitman, 80, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away June 25, 2007 at the home of his son. Mr. Whitman was born in DeQuincy, Louisiana. He retired from the United States Army in 1962 as a Staff Sergeant. He served in the Phillipines during World War II and later in the Korean Conflict. His service took him to Copenhagen, Denmark for five years with the Inspector General Corps. After his military retirement he worked for and retired from the Painter and Tapers Union, after 20 years of service. His family was his life. Mr. Whitman was a member of the Liberty American Legion and he had attended the Chandler Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby N. Whitman; a grandson, Dennis Whitman; a sister, Virginia Whitman; and a brother, Burton Whitman. Survivors include his sons and their wives, William H. & Paula Whitman of Kearney, Missouri, and James F. & Marcia Whitman of Wanechee, Washington; daughters and husband, Barbara L Whitley of Liberty, Missouri, Deborah K. & Dan Holt of Kearney, Missouri, Joyce Ann Burke of Whitehouse, Texas, and Sandy Crawford of Texas; his sisters, Betty Catherine Haines and Patsy Ruth Walden, both of Buna, Texas; also, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
