On October 14, 2022, Walter Howard Brown, beloved husband of Cheri E. Brown (nee Auvil); devoted father of Laurie R. Lacey, Lisa C. Fort and her husband Doug and Jennifer D. John; "Dad" of Frank John and Mike Lacey; loving grandfather of Michael Lacey, Jr. (Amanda), Kara Kreft (Tyler), Eric Fort, Benjamin Fort, Evan John and Emily Ruth John; cherished great grandfather of Logan and Cole Lacey; also survived by his faithful dog, Jakey.

Walt was an Eastwood resident until 2001 when he moved to Edgemere in the Beachwood community. He graduated from Dundalk High School in 1962 and was the senior class President. He attended West Chester State University, University of Baltimore, Loyola College and Johns Hopkins University. He earned Masters degrees in mathematics, guidance and administration. He was the President of Baltimore County Counselors Association and helped create the first Crisis Intervention Team for Baltimore County Public Schools.

He worked for Baltimore County Public Schools for 41 years, first as a math teacher, guidance counselor and guidance chairman. He was then hired by the state of MD to work with Level 5 special needs students at Chesapeake High School while also working part-time at Perry Hall Christian School as guidance counselor.

His passion was baseball, but he also played soccer and wrestled for high school and college. He was offered a contract to play for the Baltimore Orioles Rookie Team in Bluefield, WV but instead chose to accept an athletic scholarship to the University of Baltimore, where he played 3 sports. He helped the college earn a National Soccer Championship in 1963. He was inducted into the Dundalk Sports Hall of Fame in 1996. He was a Mason-Dixon soccer referee for 22 years for high school and college matches. He coached JV and Varsity Baseball at Dundalk High School guiding them to 4 county championships and 1 state championship. His coaching resume includes Head Coach of the Deep Creek soccer and wrestling teams, where he led them to a county title in 1967. He also coached soccer at Patapsco and Dundalk. He was a Ruling Elder at Dundalk Presbyterian Church for 39 years. He has been a member of Edgemere Free Methodist Church since 2012.
