PATASKALA, Ohio -- Walter E. Dempsey, age 72, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Mount Carmel East Hospital.

He was born in Lowell, the son of the late Walter S. Dempsey and Dorothy (Cleary) Dempsey, and was a resident of Lowell for 69 years before moving to Ohio to live with his sister, Ann King and family three years ago.

Walter graduated from Saint Michael's grammar and Lowell High schools then worked at the University of Lowell until his retirement in 1980. He lived in the Centralville section of Lowell on Seventh Street and was a communicant at Saint Michael Church. Walter loved politics and always had the radio on listening to the latest stories about Lowell. While he was in Ohio, he continued his love of Lowell by constantly checking the internet and Lowell Sun stories.

Walter is survived by two brothers, Jack of Fort Myers, FL, and Brian of Lowell; and one sister, Ann King of Pataskala, Ohio.

DEMPSEY -- Relatives and friends may call at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, on Saturday morning, January 10, from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM.
