Walter G. Dick Walter G. Dick, 94, of Bradenton Fla., (formerly Bethel Park, PA and Arlington, VA) passed away on June 17, 2018. Walt was born on February 22, 1924 in Lawrence, MA to Walter A. Dick and Kathryn Dick (Mahoney). Walt is preceded in death by his first wife, Helen (Hoffman), brother, Raymond G. Dick, and sisters, Arlyne and Paulyne Dick and Norma Filios. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Judith (Liebnitzky) Dick, his eldest sister having just celebrated her 100th birthday, Marita Stratton of Lee, Massachusetts, 25 nieces and nephews and countless numbers of great, great-great and even great-great-great nieces and nephews. Mr. Dick grew up in Worcester, MA, where he graduated from Classical High School, Class of '42. Walt joined the U.S. Army Signal Corp and served in WWII in the Pacific Theater, and at the time of discharge had attained the rank of Sergeant. After his military service, he returned to Worcester and attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) where he received his BS in Electrical Engineering, graduating in 1949. Walt was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He was active on campus, participating in Varsity Baseball, "Peddler" (yearbook), "Mask" (theater), Glee Club, Student Government and was a member of Pi Delta Epsilon Honor Society. He spent his 39 year career working in telecommunications, first for Bell of Pennsylvania, which became Bell Atlantic, from which he retired in 1985 as a District Staff Manager. Walt and Helen moved to Bradenton in 1984. Soon after, Helen passed away. After her death, Walt became active at Kirby Stewart Post 24 of the American Legion where he met his second wife, Judy. He was also a member for well over 50 years of Joseph Warren Lodge No 726 F&AM in Youngsville, PA. In Florida he was a member of BPOE #1511 and VFW #10141. Walt enjoyed traveling, having found himself, at one time or another, in all of our beautiful 50 states. He and Judy went on many cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal and Europe. He really loved golf and played or practiced his game until about a year and a half before his death. Walt even managed a trip to the British Open and to The Masters in Augusta. In the early '90s, Mr. and Mrs. Dick joined the then El Conquistador Country Club and continue their membership there as IMG Golf Club. He loved his many friends made over the years at "the Club". Walt was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to: Masonic Charities of the R.W. A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from Noon to 2:00 PM at IMG Golf Club, 4350 El Conquistador Pkwy., Bradenton, FL.
