WALTER "JOE"
Passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014. He was 80 years old. Living in Shaler Twp., formerly from the Garfield section of Pittsburgh. He was the beloved son of the late Walter and Rose Dickert; cherished husband of Diana (Shipley) Dickert for 45 years; loving father of Joseph (Joanna) and Brian (Laura) Dickert; grandfather to Lyle Wilson Dickert, Sierra, Evan, and Nathan Dickert; brother-in-law to Calvin (Anne) Shipley, Nancy Shipley, and Rhonda Tipton; uncle of Christopher, Matthew, Melissa Shipley, and Sam Shipley Tipton. He was best friends with John McIntyre, Moose Goligher, and the late Dino Flavin and Bill Kelley, and all his Garfield brothers. He was employed by Speedometer Service and Parts Pro Warehouse for 45 years. He was a Penguin hockey fan from their days at the Duquesne Gardens. Friends received at McCABE BROS, INC. FUNERAL HOME, 5300 Penn Ave., Bloomfield, on Saturday 6-8 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where Funeral will commence on Monday at 10 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Maria Goretti Church (Penn Campus) at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, 1 North Linden St., Duquesne, PA 15110 or Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.

Diana and Family trust that you all know Joe is with Our Lord Jesus Christ and with more family and friends that he has known in his lifetime. May you all be Blessed in knowing and Believing this. Found out at one of the Garfield get-togethers a few years ago that Joe was known as 'The Mayor Of Garfield' SWEET! Be Blessed

What can I say about Joe..he was my little league coach when I was 10 or so..he offered me my first real job at Speedometer at 17..he also gave me a job starting over in 1992 with Parts Pros..he has and always will be a part of my familys dearest friends..never a more gentle man on this earth..good father and a good husband to Diana..we will all miss his huge smile and his sense of humor..rest in peace "Joseppe".you were much loved down here and will be forever remembered..Garfield sure knew how to make em`..
