Walter Dowd Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 9, 2013.
DOWD, WALTER JOHN
April 6th, 2013 – December 16, 1930
Walter was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He recently lost his older brother Gerald and older sister
Patricia. His younger brother, Richard lives with his wife, Connie, and family in Nova Scotia.
Walter also leaves behind his wife, Barbara. Her love, affection and care has been a comfort and aid to him over their 44 years of marriage, especially in these last times in his battle with chronic kidney and lung disease.
Thanks are due to Dr. Sanders and Dr. Fazil for their care and advice, to the staff of the health professionals at the Cowichan District Hospital and to the Home Care nurses. Walter was a teacher and very much enjoyed his teaching career which he started in 1953 and ended in 1992. It had allowed him to teach in other parts of Canada as well as the Canadian DND Schools, Germany. He always found the time to be involved in a variety of school activities (sports, drama, yearbook) and in many staff related committees. By his own request cremation with no ceremony or service.

A la prochaine.

Mr. Dowd taught both of our children at Lake Cowichan Secondary School. Our family had great respect for him as a teacher and a man. He was a wonderful role model.

We are very sorry to hear of his passing.

Barb: I have always thought of Walter and yourself with respect and caring in my heart. Walter will be remembered for his contributions to the teachers, students and the school community of Lake Cowichan. Hope you have the strength to keep going. Regards, John Ward
