Walter E. Harper, Jr.

Knoxville - Walter E. Harper, Jr, age 71, of Knoxville, TN died at his home on April 6th, 2021. He battled throat cancer courageously, but ultimately succumbed to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and COPD.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter and Mildred D. Harper. Left to cherish his memory is his partner of 26 years, Tracy W. House and children, whom he raised and loved as his own: Dr. L. McLean House II (Kayla) of Portland, OR and Lakin O. Cantey (Nick) of Knoxville. Walt was softened by the love he felt for his grandson and best friend, Hudson G. Acuff. Ryder Cantey arrived shortly before his death and would have been adored by Walt. Other survivors include his sisters, Mary Doane (Harvey), Nancy Mauldin, and their families.

Walt was cremated in accordance with his wishes. No formal viewing or memorial service will be held. We trust that all will remember the good times with him. He loved the Rolling Stones, poolside barbeques, and sports. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Second Harvest Food Bank, 136 Harvest Lane, Maryville, TN 37801. Arrangements made by Cremation Options.

So sad to hear of Walt’s passing. Walt was a good friend as well as my court reporter for many years. Walt always had an infectious laugh to go with a fresh , new joke. He dearly loved Tracy and his family. He will be missed.
