WALTER HARRIS Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 2, 2017.
HARRIS WALTER D.
Walter D. Harris, 56, of Ross Township, Pennslvania, died January 30, 2017, after losing a weak and cowardly battle with cancer. The location of his passing is none of your business. Walt was born April 17, 1960, in the back seat of a Greyhound Bus, rollin' down Highway 41. Walt served in the Blue Tic Tavern, campus of West Virginia University (from which he graduated, eventually), during the Iran Hostage Crisis. He was employed several times over the years. He was an avid watcher rather than a doer. Mostly, he watched anything where they were keeping score. However, the Steelers were the love of his life. His personality was infectious, to the point of requiring Ross Township to impose a city-wide quarantine in 2013. Walt was a lifelong member of the Department of Redundancy Department, where he bore the honorific of "Most Redundant." He leaves behind a spacious, 3 BR apartment with hardwood floors and reasonable utilities. Walt is survived by his son, his mother, his former wife, three brothers, and by his favorite aunt. Walt is his mother's favorite oldest son. In accordance with Walt's wishes, there will be no visitation, funeral, graveside or memorial service. There will be a wake in the near future, assuming we get around to it, during which only Walt's CDs will be played. So, get ready for a lot of 17th Century chamber music! --"I'm Walt Harris, and I approve this obituary." Arrangements by BALL FUNERAL CHAPEL.

R.I.P. Walt. I am fortunate to have known you in life. Rest easy knowing how much joy and happiness you spread when you were around. Though I havent worked front desk @ Ramada Inn Morgantown for many years, that is where we met. You and Steve came for every home football game, and whenever it was possible, you had your son with ya. This was just as true with Basketball season. So loud, boisterous and full of energy when you came through the door, you brightened my day with the sound of your voice, and not to mention the snicker I would have when everyone would ask "Who has been parked right out front ALL weekend".... Keep on keeping on friend, to all family and friends I wish you peace through this time. Steve Barclay, I am sending you and his son extra special thoughts and prayers.

I never met Walter Harris but that is the most creative, witty and refreshing obituary I ever read. Mr. Harris obviously wrote it himself and, if so, I regret never having met the man. To his family please celebrate the life of this clever individual rather than mourn his passing. I suspect he would have wanted it that way.

February 2, 2017

I am terribly disappointed I did not know this man in this life. Hope to meet him someday in the next one!

February 2, 2017

One of the best obits I've read in a long time. Sounds like someone I would've liked. RIP!!!

I can only hope that my obituary provides as much mirth and pleasure as Mr. Harris's did for me. My condolences to his loved ones, for you appear to have lost a most original member of your family.
