Frances Creager Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 6, 2011.
Frances Leona Creager, 89, of Renton, Washington, died June 2, 2011, at Cascade Vista Convalescent Center in Redmond, WA surrounded by family and prayers. She was born August 23, 1921 in Sutton, Nebraska, the daughter of Gothlief and Alma Untersher. She was the middle child of 4 siblings.
On June 6, 1951, she married Homer Creager in Renton, Washington.
At 17 years old Frances left home after she graduated from Clay Center High School. During World War II she worked at Remington Arms making bullets and later became an inspector. She then traveled to rainy WA to work on the B-29 bomber. She installed cables, air ducts and ammunition boxes for the tail gunners. After the war she did upholstery for the commercial airplanes. Before her marriage she was working on getting her pilot license. When she got tired of the rain in Washington she would go back to Colorado.
Frances learned to drive and square dance after the death of her husband in 1967. The Renton Senior Center was her home away from home. She learned Hawaiian dancing and tap dance there. She belonged to the sewing group -- crocheting, knitting, and embroidery work. She traveled to many different places including Hawaii, Israel, Egypt, Greece, Panama Canal, Jamaica, Thomas Islands, and Mexico. August was her month to can vegetables and fruits from her big garden. She also played bingo with her friends.
Mrs. Creager was preceded in death by her husband, Homer, and her parents and older siblings Wilma and Milton Untersher. She is survived by her younger sister Dorothy of Illinois.
She is survived by her 11 children: Charles (Mike) Creager, Angola, IND; Patrick Creager (Chris) Renton; Donald Creager (Pat) Renton, Marlene Pelegri (Carl) Renton; David Creager, Renton; Larry Creager Renton; twins Dean Creager Renton and Doreen March (Jim) of Sumner, WA; Jerry Creager Renton; Vickie Rasmussen (Tom) and June Tobakos of Loveland Colo.
She is also survived by her 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
The service will be held Wednesday at 1:30 pm at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, Washington.
Arrangements under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home, Renton, WA.

Mom - we will miss stopping by and hearing your stories about the past. You always had a snack for us to eat and you made the best cherry pies. Thanks for the cooking lessons. They come in real handy. We will miss you a lot...Pat & Chris

Mom,
My last letter to you. You had an interesting life before you married and then you made sure that we were well taken care of. I can never say that we ever went hungry. Thank you for the good times and sharing parts of your life with us. Thank you for creating all the picture books that we poured over from time to time and then after you were gone. I love you. You will be missed! I pray that I will have a close relationship with my children as you had with me. Thank your for putting your confidence in me to make sure things were taken care of. I know you are watching over me. Stay close. Love you forever,
Marlene
