Walter W. Richardson Jr., 70, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at University Medical Center in Jackson.

Visitation is Saturday, April 8 from 9:30-11 a.m. at Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Funeral services are Saturday at 11 a.m. Fletcher's Chapel with Rev. Barry Ward officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.

Mr. Richardson was born March 16, 1947 in Ackerman to Walter W. Richardson Sr. and Bonnie Sue Bruce Richardson. He was a graduate of Bentonia High School and a veteran of the Army National Guard. He retired as a self-employed contractor for Mississippi Valley Gas after 29 years of service. During his retirement he enjoyed cooking and created Pop's Kitchen jelly sales. He also enjoyed woodworking and making arrowheads. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sharon Richardson; three daughters, Toni Stewart (the late John), Terri Goodman (Gray) and Teresa Baker (Joe); two sisters, Belinda Patterson Manor and Margaret Anne Culpepper; and eight grandchildren, Mary Grace Stewart, Chloe Stewart, Jake Stewart, Jordan Goodman, Sarah Selby Goodman, Bess Baker, Emma Baker and Will Baker.

Memorials may be made to the UMMC Mississippi Center for Heart Research.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to family and friends, for the lost of their beloved Walter. I hope the promise at John 6:39 can bring real comfort. Knowing that there is hope for our lost love ones can be reassuring.
