Although I did not know Walter , we may be related. My dad's name was also Walter Routh.
He lived in and near Orange Ciounty , Indiana. Born in 1890 and died in 1965. I am an only child. and live in Alabama. My dad did have eleven siblings. One sibling named Ellsworth had a son or possibly a first couisin who lived in Bakersfield, and if my memory serves me correctly, he worked in a post office. This event occured in the early 1960's . If this provides a connection , please correspond. I am 77 years of age with two children and four grandchildren . Have researched my family back to the 1400's pror to Columbus. Once theycame to america many settled in either North Carolina or Virginia. Some did enter thru Ellis Island.

Walter was a Great Friend in high school (BHS) he had a Great Heart, fun to being around, We talked a lot about daily things, always thought about Walter at our class reunion, Specially we all missed him, in our thoughts, at our 50th Class Reunion this year 2023,

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Walter. He was a very kind man. Mike had good times fishing with him and Bill Hatcher and remembers him fondly. Memories to last a life time. May God bless you all with the peace that passes all understanding. Rest in peace Walter, until we see you again!

Uncle Walter I thank you for being my uncle, thanks to auntie Diann being in love and picking a great man. I will always remember the redwoods, even though you wanted to beat me!! Take care of dad, crazy uncle Monroe and my baby U'ilani!! Ashley Riane & I love you!!

Walter was a truly loyal friend. I could not ask for a better friend nor a harder working and diligent employee. We had a lot of great times as well as faced a lot of challenges together. You will forever be missed and my heart goes out to your family.

Walter was one of the most kind and sincere people I have ever worked with. I remember how he used to talk about spending time with his grandkids and about how proud he was of his sons. I was very fortunate to get to spend the short time I did with Walter while working in Bakersfield. My thoughts and prayers will be for his family in their time of grief. I hope it comforts them to know I believe that Walter is smiling down on all of us from heaven.
