SMITH, Walter Joseph
Passed away in Carmichael on August 11, 2007. Beloved father of Russell Joseph Smith of Elk Grove and Coleen H. Deleon of Sacramento. Cherished brother of Helen C. Poole of NH. Loving grandfather of 5. Also survived by his former wife, Anna Smith of Sacramento, and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born on March 1, 1932 in Saugus, MA. He grew up in Lynn, MA and attended St. Mary's Grammar School and St. Mary's College in Lynn, MA. Walter relocated to Sacramento in 1955 and attended Sacramento City College. He worked as a Chemical Analyst for Procter and Gamble for 33 years. Friends are invited to attend viewing on Wednesday, 4 to 8 pm, Thursday 4 to 8 pm, and Friday 9 to 10 am at LOMBARD AND CO., FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 1550 Fulton Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95825. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, 10:00 am, also at LOMBARD AND CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS. Interment at South East Lawn Memorial Park, Elk Grove, CA.

Colleen and Russell, I am so sorry to learn of your father's passing. My mom and I spoke with him in May after my own father's passing. We were planning to visit with him when we visit California this spring. He was so much fun to talk to on the phone, and I am so sorry we will miss him, as is my mom.
