ASHTABULA — Wanda M. DeGarmo, age 82, died unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, in her home.She was born on May 23, 1926, in Ashtabula County, the daughter of Earl and Alice (Wortman) Benjamin. A lifetime resident of the Jefferson and Ashtabula areas, she graduated from Jefferson Are High School in 1944.Retiring in 1990, she worked for over 20 years for the Ashtabula County Welfare Department.She is survived by her three daughters: Karen Buckley of Solon, Ohio, Kathy (Wayne) Irwin of Sparta, N.J., and Kim Horn of Aurora, Ohio; and three step-children: James DeGarmo Jr. of Texas, Fred (Donna) DeGarmo and Sara “Kathy” DeGarmo, both of Ashtabula. She has four grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 33 years, James, who died in 2005; her brother, Delmar Benjamin; and sisters, Vesta Allen and Elma Burgett; as well as her grandsons, David Buzzard and Bert DeGarmo.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28th, at 10 a.m. in the Ashtabula Home of the FLEMING and BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio, with the Fr.
