HALLFORD Wanda L. Hallford, 82, California, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007, at Moniteau Care Center in California, Mo. She was born February 8, 1925, in California, Mo., the daughter of Burke Robert Schuster Sr. and Lela Gertrude Chambers Schuster, who preceded her in death. She was married November 23, 1945, in Olathe, Kansas to Alfred W. Hallford, who passed away October 27, 1988. She was a secretary for the Department of Social Services for over 30 years; enjoyed her family and enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church south of California, Mo. She was a 1943 graduate of Aurora (California) High School. Survivors include one son, John David Hallford with his wife, Nicole of California, Mo.; two daughters, Linda Ann Brandl of Tipton, Mo. and Doris Lynn Hallford of Columbia, Mo.; one sister, Billie Wells of Frankfort, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Pat Schuster of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Dorothy Haldiman of Kirkwood, Mo. and five grandchildren, Lindsey and Ryan Brandl and Alden, Kristen and Brayden Hallford. She was preceded in death also by two brothers, A. L. Schuster and Burke Robert Schuster, Jr. Services will be held at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Service, Thursday, April 26, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Greg Morrow. Burial will be in California City Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to California Nutrition Center, 107 W. Versailles Avenue, California, MO 65018. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Service in California, Mo.

I worked with Wanda in the mid 1970's at Social Services. It was only for a short time, but for several years after, we continued to correspond at Christmas. Later we lost touch, but I continued to think of her each year when I sent cards. She was a wonderful, sweet, caring person, and will be missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
