Wanda Hartin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 21, 2025.
With sadness and love, we announce the passing of Wanda Hartin of Pecos, Texas. Wanda passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on January 11, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Dorothy Gilbert and Robert Lee Hughs. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rex, her brother Bobby, and her sister Iris. Wanda is survived by her daughter Joan Frost (Thomas), her son Olin Hartin (Susan), three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Wanda was born in Big Springs, Texas, where she began life under humble circumstances. Born under a tree due to her family's limited resources, she grew up helping her father by assembling vegetable baskets that were sold to local restaurants. Her meticulous work earned the admiration of their customers.

While working as a switchboard operator, Wanda met Rex, who would become the love of her life. They married on July 16, 1955, and began their life together on a dry land farm in Seminole, Texas, where their two children were born. In 1968, they sold the ranch and moved into town where she worked as a seamstress for a garment factory. In 1974, they settled in Pecos, Texas, where she joined Rex in building houses. She remained a resident of Pecos for over 50 years. Wanda and Rex shared 67 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2023.

Wanda was an accomplished seamstress who created her own clothing and household goods with care and precision. She was also a talented artist, leaving behind several beautiful paintings. Wanda will be remembered for her sweet disposition, modesty, and unwavering determination in the face of life's challenges.

She will be laid to rest alongside Rex in Arizona. Wanda will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
