Warren Wilson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 23 to Apr. 25, 2009.
Warren Lee Wilson of Tulsa, age 82 formerly of Wagoner passed away Tuesday, April 21st, 2009 in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by his family. Willie, as he was known to family and friends was born in Billings, Oklahoma to Ocie Lee and Wastina Pearl (Blackwell) Wilson on July 11, 1926. He was raised in the Tulsa area and he attended McClain High School until his enlistment in the United States Navy in 1943. He was a proud Navy man and served his country during WW II on patrol craft submarines and subchasers and received several medals and recognitions. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in January 1946 and he went on to marry his childhood sweetheart, Maxine (McCullough) Wilson on August 7, 1946 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They have shared a lifetime of wonderful memories during their sixty-two years together.Willie found his talent doing auto body repair on cars for Barron and Hart, Thomas Cadillac, Jim Norton Buick, Lynn Sherrell Paint and Body as well as several other well known auto dealerships around the Tulsa area. He also owned and operated his own body shop called Acme Paint and Body. He restored a 1948 Black Ford Coupe and a 1947 Ford Sedan Convertible. He was well known for his painting skills in many Hot Rod circles and his cars were featured in Street Scene magazine. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, tending the iris, and his many wood-working and carving projects in his outdoor "dog house". He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Above all he was the best husband, father, grandfather and "Potsie" a family could ask for. To us he walked on water. Willie and Maxine lived in Tulsa for a number of years while raising their two children, often coming down to their lake home on the weekends. Eventually, when Willie retired they moved from Tulsa to be near the lake at Rocky Point. Willie worked hard, played hard, and loved completely. He was a member of Blood, Sweat and Gears Car Club as well as the Tulsa Iris Society. He was preceded in death by his parents. Two brothers Donnie and Bill Wilson and a sister-in-law Addie Mae Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife Maxine of the home. One son Lee Wilson and his wife Jill of Tulsa, Oklahoma. One daughter Brenda Shipman and her husband Randy of Wagoner, Oklahoma. Two brothers: Jake Wilson of Tulsa, OK and Riley Wilson and his wife Mary Jean of Mannford, OK. One sister Wynema Ann Penny of Tulsa, OK. Two sister-in-laws: Iva Wilson of Tulsa, OK and Bobbie Ann Wilson of Davenport, OK. Six grandchildren: Jackie, Brandy, Jenni, Jason S., Jason W., and Ramsey. Eight great grandkids: Ramsey T., Somerlyn, Dallas, Ryan, Emari, Collier, Carson and Addison. Along with other family members and dear friends who are sure to miss him.
