Waylon Burch Obituary
Waylon was born October 20, 1935, in Melrose, NM to A.V. "Tater" and Nellie Chamberlin Burch. He died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Waylon married Betty Chapman, December 15, 1956, in La Plata, MD. He served in the US Army and National Guard for ten years, the Clovis Police Department for 11 years and the Clovis Public Schools retiring as the Director of Transportation. Waylon enjoyed carpenter work, model airplanes and his family.
He is survived by his wife Betty, two sons; Clifford (Patti) Burch of Hobbs, NM, Clay (Kay) Burch of Clovis, one daughter Cheryl Burch of Clovis, NM, two Brothers; Cecil Burch and Jack Burch of Melrose, NM, two sisters Melva Jo Henry and Kendale Burch both of Clovis, NM, three granddaughters; Robin (Matt) Sefcik, Staci Burch, and Hollee (Austin) Spears and one great granddaughter Hadli Sefcik. He was preceded by his parents A.V. "Tater" and Nellie Burch, two sons Clinton and Curtis Ray Burch and brother R.L. "Spud" Burch.

Don and my mom and dad worked together years ago at the police department. I was priviledged to have him as a teacher when he started working for CMS. I will remember how much he influenced me to go from being a police officer to becoming a teacher, but more importantly how his example helped me become a prize winning scale modeler. He will be missed. Our condolences to his family.
