Wayne Ferrell Obituary

Wayne O. Ferrell, Sr., 81, of Cadiz, formerly of Piedmont, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West, Steubenville, Ohio. He was born October 20, 1922 in Moorefield, Ohio, a son of the late Alvin Newton and Rosa Dama Clay Ferrell. He was a member of the Piedmont United Methodist Church; Cadiz Post 34 of the American Legion, and the UMWA. He was an Army Veteran of WW II, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a retired employee of Consolidation Coal Co., where he worked in the Rose Valley and Oak Park Mines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris E. Barnhart Ferrell in 1988, and by a brother, Kenneth Ferrell. Surviving are two sons, Wayne Ferrell, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Cadiz, and Rick Ferrell and his wife, Fran, of Carrollton; five grandchildren: Wayne, Holly, Jason, Brandon and Nicole; and seven great grandchildren. Friends may call Friday, 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, Ohio, where funeral services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles Mehl officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery, with Military Honors performed by the Cadiz American Legion. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Piedmont United Methodist Church, Piedmont, Ohio 43983. The Memorial Guest Book may be signed at www.clark-kirkland.com.
