Wayne Kershner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 8, 2023.
Wayne Harrison Kershner joined his loving parents and his eldest sister and brother in Heaven with our Lord on March 2, 2023. He is survived by his two sisters, Charlene and Denise, and by his two daughters, Lisa and Julie.

Wayne lived and loved Delaware County. He graduated from Saint James High School and attended college at Philadelphia University. Wayne enjoyed leading a life dedicated to serving his family, his friends and his community. He taught personal finance classes at Monsignor Bonner / Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School and he also served the residents of Delaware County as a revered police officer. He loved to watch Philly sports - especially Phillies Baseball and Eagles Football.

Wayne had an incredible and quite admirable ability to find humor and fun in nearly everything and lift the mood and spirit when needed -his laugh was contagious. His love for family and friends ran deep and shone brightly through his caring involvement and thoughtful actions. He easily made friends through engaging in interesting conversations with strangers - Wayne cared to ask and was honored to know.

Wayne will forever fill our hearts with fond and fun-loving memories as the best Brother, Father, Uncle, Teacher, Confidant, Community Police Officer and Friend that one could ever ask for!

I am so sorry to hear of Wayne´s passing. Just learning of it, as I am reading the St. James Bark In Memoriam. Wayne was great guy, always fun to be around, loved sports and his family, and of course STJ. My heart goes out to his family. RIP Wayne! Dave Lansberry

On behalf of the St. James High School Alumni Association and his 1969 classmates, I extend our deepest sympathies and prayers on your loss. On April 21, 2024, the Alumni Association will remember Wayne at their annual Memorial Mass at St. Madeline's Church in Ridley Park. I had the honor being Wayne's St. James H.S. baseball coach and serving with him on the faculty.
