Wayne Ray Mikkelson

Wayne Ray Mikkelson, 73, of Russellville, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born June 22, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Alfred Merlin and Daisy Pearl Learned Mikkelson. He was the owner/operator of Happy Days RV Sales, Inc., in Russellville, was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He loved outdoor activities and was an avid golfer, hunter and Huskers fan. He loved being with his friends and family, and loved George Jones. He was a good person with a good heart, loved helping others in need and always found the good in everyone. He solved at least one crossword puzzle every day and challenged others to do the same. He was a great teacher and was always eager to learn new things. He was an excellent cook and was not happy until everyone ate. He was preceded in death by is parents and a brother, Larry Mikkelson. Survivors include the love of his life, his wife, Diann Mikkelson; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Rita Mikkelson of Bellevue, Nebraska; a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Curt Lusch of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; a brother, Merlin Mikkelson of Miltonville, Kansas; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Devita and Ray Beals of Miltonville, Wanda and Bernie Phipps of Branson, Missouri, Linda and Bill Busch of Omaha, Brenda and Larry Messina of Stewart, Florida, and Virginia and Dean Shifferns of Glenrock, Wyoming; three grandchildren, Adam Lusch, Katie Lusch and Jacob Mikkelson; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful friend, Mattie the "Greeter Dog". The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at the Shinn Chapel, with military honors provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Rogers-Rye Post # 2283, and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
