Wayne O. Webb

Wayne O. Webb, 69 of Marietta Georgia, passed away February 20, 2018. He was born at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta Georgia on June 13, 1948. Wayne graduated from Headland High School in College Park, served in the Army Reserves and soon after embarked on his lifelong career of small business ownership. In 1971 a girl he knew from elementary school came into his dry cleaners and on December 30 of that same year, Wayne married Susan Cooke also of College Park. They recently celebrated their 46th year of marriage.

Though he spent many years as an owner of several local Marietta dry cleaners, The Corner Cleaners, his most notable impact in business came in the form of helping others run their businesses. He began Profit Groups early in his career through Budget Rent A Car and sustained long term relationships with other small business owners that grew from simply business dynamics into unbreakable friendships and life long bonds. He was more than just a numbers guy, he was a relationship builder. He had a passion for helping others survive the complexities and unique challenges of small business ownership.

Wayne had an insatiable love of music. From blasting show tunes on road trips to singing gospel in the shower, he loved singing. He was a member of many church and state choirs throughout his life and most recently sang in the choir of the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church.

Wayne's real passion lay in his belief and investment in the people he came in contact with. He spent his time, his love and his prayers focused on the encouragement and support of those he knew. If you ever got on his radar screen, you never left. He gave of himself tirelessly to help others build better relationships with their loved ones, develop more profitable businesses and encourage closer relationships with God. He had empathy in spades and left every space, every room and every conversation better than he found it. He loved big and he was not afraid to tell you so.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Elizabeth Webb, older sister, Brenda Webb and younger brother, Phil Webb. He is survived by his wife, Susan Cooke Webb, daughter, Anna Webb McDuffie, her husband Eric McDuffie, daughter Rachel Webb Turner, her husband Andy Turner and three grandchildren whom he adored, Celine McDuffie, Samuel Turner and Wesley Turner. Also he is survived by his sister, Dottie Redmond, her husband, Dr. Charles Redmond and nephews Jonathan Redmond and Joel Redmond.

The most important aspect of Wayne's life was his reliance and belief in Jesus Christ his Savior. He prayed fervent prayers and many mornings Susan and Wayne started their days going down a list praying for people they knew and some they didn't who had needs in their lives. He was humble but wise and always around to give guidance and defer to the wisdom of the one true God.

Wayne wouldn't want us to shed too many tears of sadness. He would want his legacy remembered through the same jovial stories and funny moments he used to touch all of our lives. He would want to hear the laughter all the way in heaven. He would want you to go away inspired and encouraged that his death is not an ending but the beginning of something even greater. He would want you to tell those around you that you loved them and were proud of them. But most of all, he'd want you to lean into the love of our Heavenly Father and put your faith in Him.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. the same day, also at EBC.
