Wayne Wilcox Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 12 to Nov. 15, 2008.
Wayne Scott Wilcox, 44, a resident of East Wenatchee, died Friday, November 7, 2008, at his home in East Wenatchee. He was born on August 6, 1964, at Cascade Hospital in Leavenworth, to Dale and Eileen Wilcox. He lived with his family in a home at the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery, where he was raised. Wayne received his early education at Leavenworth, attending Osborn Elementary, Leavenworth Middle School and Leavenworth High School through the tenth grade. He then attended Eastmont High School, where he graduated in 1983. Wayne enlisted in the United States Navy and served in San Diego, in a helicopter anti-submarine squadron attached to the USS Enterprise. He went on to West Pac cruise in 1984 and in 1986, the last one, traveled 58,000 miles around the world in seven months. After his honorable discharge, he met his wife to be, Amy Elliott. They were married at Gleneden, OR on April 6, 2001; combining two families into one, Nicole, Nicholas, Michael and Jennifer. They were sealed as a family for eternity on April 6, 2006, in the Seattle LDS Temple and later, added a fifth child, Nathan, to complete the family. Wayne was always working at the Antique Mall of Cashmere and before that, there was the Antique Mall of Wenatchee, which is now 20 years old. His two oldest sons, Nicholas and Michael, always helped out around the malls and at the house. Michael took care of the lawn and all of the outdoor work at the Antique Mall of Cashmere. Wayne had to be the best man to be around; he was always friendly to family, friends, customers and even his childrens friends. Nathan was his little sunshine, he was everyones. Wayne enjoyed helping Nicholas and Michael, both with their driving and their cars and trying to fix Michaels 64 Volkswagen. He really was a great father, husband, friend and business owner. Customers always had good comments for him. He is survived by his wife, Amy Wilcox; sons, Michael Wilcox, Nicholas Wilcox and Nathan Wilcox; daughters, Nichole Wilcox and Jennifer Wilcox, all of the family home; his parents, Dale and Eileen Wilcox of East Wenatchee; brothers and sisters-in-law, David Jones and his wife, Bonnie of Wenatchee and Daniel Jones and his wife, Carol of St. Augustine, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jennifer and her husband, Eric Hendrickson of Spokane, Laura and her husband, Dennis Kline of Selah and Wendy and her husband, Phil Carolan of Winlock, WA. A Funeral Service of Commemoration was held on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 667 10th Street N.E., East Wenatchee. Visitation was held on Wednesday the 12th, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Private Family Inurnment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Waynes name to the American Cancer Society at 7325 W. Deschutes Avenue, Suite A, Kennewick, WA 99336. Wards Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.

I loved him so much, I have some of my very best and greateast happiest childhood memories with him. We spent alot of time together when I was little, Chickens, dirt bikes, snomobiles, blueberry picking, sleeping out side at the lake on lawn chairs, playing in his playhouse, the lake, his truck, fish, going with him for his after military gov job, aka, the starling man, lol. greta and Zues, Mork and Mindy...LOL....I will miss him as I have so very much. To know that he is no longer just a phone call away is hard. I will ALWAYS be his "Toddles". :)

My sincere symapthy to Amy and your children. I will think of Wayne always and how much he loved all of you. My heart sinks every time I enter the doors of he mall. Wayne always greeted me with a huge smile, saying "well there's Tam-Tam" and gave me the biggest hugs. It always made my day a little brighter. You will be greatly missed by all of us who's lives you touched so deeply.

So sorry to hear of Wayne's passing.

I remember living up at Lake Wenatchee and my brother and I stopping by to walk the rest of the way to the bus stop at Whispering Pines. We spent many fun times up there on snow machines and just running around the woods up there. So glad he is part of some of my fondest childhood memories.

Although we are about 3,000 miles away, our hearts and our spirits are there with all of you. Both Carole and I will not soon forget Wayne, nor his Mom and Daddy. As our Leavenworth Branch was growing one cannot forget the steel reinforcement provided by the Wilcox's. You will be in our prayers continually now as you have been in the past since our last seeing you out west.

We only knew Wayne for 2 years and he was one of the nicest people that we've met in the antique business. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and he always had a smile. He will be missed...Ted & Rhonda Quillin, dealers.. Antique Mall of Cashmere.

I already signed this guestbook however, I wish to apologize for using it as a means to contact my nephew who is married to Dawn. I have no other way to reach him and it is urgent I speak with him. I do send my condolences to Wayne's family. He was much too young to be taken away from his family and friends. He was an excellent businessman and the entire community will miss him.

I offer my condolences. Wayne was a super guy and I enjoyed talking with him about the building Antique Mall of Wenatchee is located in because I used to work in that building when it was occupied by Belmont Music Center and some of the original carpet, etc. is still there even 25 years later. Wayne is also the uncle to my nephew's wife, Dawn Edwards, daughter of Laura Kline. I need to get a message to that nephew, via Laura or Dawn. It is extremely urgent so if you can email me or give my email address to them, I would appreciate it.

Thank you and please accept my deepest sympathy. Wayne will be missed.
