Found his Clipper ad and saw him at PanAm shopping center. Awesome doctor that took his time and I never felt rushed like other eye doctors. I referred over 10 patients to him because of his demeanor and skill. The conversations were great too.
He would leave contacts for me outside the rear door for me to get after hours at his Vienna location.
Rest in Paradise.
P.S.
I still cannot spell his last name correctly but knew a google search of Wedo would get me the correct info I needed!

Dr. Wedo Nutaitis was a great person who made going to the eye Dr. a pleasurable experience. He was so vibrant and funny. He told great stories and was an excellent listener. He also loved his craft and love to explain it in detail. I feel like I know so much more about the craft of optometry thanks to him. I love reading all of the nice things everyone has said about him. He is missed, and going to the eye doctor will never be the same.

Our family of five had been patients of Dr. Nutaitis for over 30 years starting in Alexandria. He always asked about how our family members were doing and was by far the most friendly doctor I ever visited. I was shocked when I heard the news. I will miss his professional services and demeanor. Condolences to all of his family. David McCormack

I am beyond devastated. Dr. Nutaitis was not only my eye doctor of 20 years, but a really good friend. When I was in his office we would talk about our mutual love of fishing. He will be missed.

Just discovered this ob. What a shame. Wedo was one of my best friends at St. Leo's Catholic Elementary School. He, along with the other three of us, Joey Edgar, Tom White and Howie Bowell, were inseparable in 6th, 7th and 8th grades, on the basketball team and the Track Team. Lost track of all of them soon after that, but never forgot how much fun we had together. There is nothing quite like youth friendships. Rest In Peace, my old friend.

My family and I are devastated at the news! We only just learned of the passing of our beloved Dr. Nutaitis. Here we were making plans to go visit only to get a call alerting us of his passing. We were upset and speechless. Dr. Nutaitis has been our Optometrist and friend since 1992. We recall the numerous pleasant and interesting chats with he and (mother) Mrs. Nutaitis. How fondly I recall our many conversations about venison (from his hunting trips) and the different ways to cook it; his garden...he last gave me tomato plants in 2015...still have photos. Wow!! Simply blown. Remember him telling me on occasion..."You have to come early as I have to leave for Scouts meeting...we are selling Christmas trees!" He was a loving and caring man, not only to his patients, but particularly to his parents. Dr. Nutaitis will be greatly missed. To the family, kindly accept our sincere condolences. We are truly blessed to have had his care and friendship.

We thought of the good doctor as family. He diagnosed my husband's eye condition years ago which was such a blessing to know and be corrected. He always asked about all our family and shared his life with us. We loved him and will miss him so much. What a caring and loving man he was. The Szabo family

Our family is saddened to learn of Dr. Nutaitis's passing. He was like a part of our family - we met him way back when he was filling in for a doc in Old Town Alexandria over 20 years ago. We followed him with his office moves and were sad to leave him behind when we recently moved to Tennessee. I know his family will miss him. He loved all of his nieces and nephews - the stories he would tell! And he showed so much interest in our lives - truly a kind and caring person. I am quite sure he is fly fishing with angels right now.

My wife and I were deeply saddened when we learned yesterday of Dr. Nutaitis's death. We have been going to him since first seeing him at his office in the Pan Am Center many years ago. We always looked forward to our visits to him because of his genuine interest in his patients lives as well as their eye care, and because of the always interesting conversations we had with him on many diverse topics. He was a keen observer of life, and we considered him a good friend. The world would be a far better place if it had more people like Dr. Nutaitis.
Our deepest condolences to his family.

I am deeply saddened as I just learned of the passing of one of the best human beings I have ever known, Dr Nutaitis. He became my optometrist in 1990 and has been that and a great friend ever since. I have relocated several times and he was the still my optometrist. He was still my optometrist when I moved to Greensboro and when I relocated to southern Va. I would travel for hours to see him for eye visits and wonderful catch-up conversations. I sometimes felt that he knew me better than I knew myself. He knew when I would lose a contact lens. He kept up with my job changes and my sons sports activities. He was a great person. He was the epitome of professionalism. He LOVED his family and we loved hearing about them. He will sorely be missed.

My family and I have been seeing Dr. Nutaitis since we moved to Vienna 119 years ago. I was shocked to just hear the message of his passing. My daughter and I are so sad to hear that Dr. Nutaitis has passed away. I just called his office because it was time to schedule our check up and listened to the tape recording in shock. We have been going to see him, first at his location in Pan Am Shopping Center, then in Vienna for more than 20 years and will miss him so much.

Our deepest sympathy and prayers for the Nutaitis family. We miss Dr. Nutaitis, as a friendly raconteur and insightful optometrist. We shared memories of Berwick PA (aka Nutaitisville) and the difficulty tracing Baltic roots before mid 1800's, when they were assigned last names. His love of his Dad, brothers, and fishing made us happy to work around both of our family needs.

There are no words to say how sad I am. Dr. Nutaitis was my eye doctor since I lived in Fairfax from 1990. To date he still was and I am only now finding out because I was calling and calling and no response from the phone line until today. I travel from Maryland where I now live for his service. I am devastated. He was one great person; a pleasure to talk to and humorous too. I will sorely miss him. Much, much love and hugs to all his family.

I was still in shock about Dr Nataitis's death. I met Dr Nutaitis over 20 years ago when his dad had knee surgery at Inova Fairfax hospital. One of nurses introduced him to me and told me he was an eye DR. I needed one at the time so I called his office to go see him. Ever since, He sees me and my son every year for our yearly check up. He was such a very pleasant gentleman. He was very good at what He does. Dr Nuttaitis...... I am going to miss you. I don't know if I will ever find someone as good as you. Continue to rest in perfect peace ..............

I am particularly grateful to Wedo for the kindness with which he treated my mother and family members while my father and your father were at The Virginian rehabilitation center. He was most gracious. Blessings on Wedo's soul.
Fondly,
