"We knew the day would come, but doesn't make it any easier. When you have a neighbor like Mr. Wendell, you realize how lucky you really are. From waiting in his driveway with a cooler full of beer the day we moved in, helping us with our patio, having any and every tool a person would need, to spending time with and admiring our little Myla (3 1/2 yrs) who drew him a picture almost every week, including one to hang by his hospital bed. Mr. Window (as Myla called him), you were such a special guy to us. Not only the very best neighbor, but another grandfather to us! We sure won't forget everything you have done for us but we will miss pulling into our drive wondering if that garage door will open up so we know we can come on over!!
You were Myla's buddy, and one of the best we ever knew. You get to be with your Genevieve now in Heaven, and we are thankful for that.
You will be missed...

Wendell lived across the street from us in Omaha. He was a sweet man. Funny guy with a dry sense of humor. He loved his family and talked about them often. I remember he carried Genevive's picture in his shirt pocket. We live in Texas now and saw him on most of our visits back. He will be missed.
Our sincere sympathies to all of his family.
