Wendy RAMSEY Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 23 to May 26, 2021.
RAMSEY, Wendy Lee (Age 65) August 11, 1955 - May 11, 2021 On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, Wendy Lee Ramsey, a loving and devoted wife to Duane Ramsey, mother of Spencer and Stewart Ramsey, a doting grand-mother of Maxwell, Royce, and Otis, passed away at age 65 after an 18 year battle with Leukemia. On August 11th, 1955, Wendy was born in Pasadena, CA, to William and Joan Robertson. She graduated from El Molino High School and married her high school sweetheart Duane on September 10th, 1977, at Mt. Gilead Bible Camp near her childhood home. Seeking life's adventure, Duane and Wendy migrated north to Colville, WA, where they built their first home and welcomed their firstborn, Spencer - all while establishing Ramsey Plumbing and Heating - where Wendy would later become the President. Wendy, alongside Duane, led their business with excellence, ambition, and a fierce commitment to people. They employed upwards of 75 individuals throughout the Pacific Northwest for over 32 years contributing to building hospitals, healthcare facilities, higher education, technology centers, pharmaceutical laboratories, and many other local commercial projects throughout the Inland Empire and Pacific Northwest. Wendy's giftedness allowed her to lead by passionately serving the individuals in her business and their families. Building relationships was the best way to build buildings and how she contributed to making the world a better place. Wendy felt called to love God and love her neighbor - both of which she did remarkably well. She couldn't help herself from profoundly engaging with others in all areas of her life. She loved taking photos, reading alongside her book club cohorts, exploring the United States on motorcycle trips with friends, learning and advocating with fellow cancer patients, and cheering on the Zags. Wendy Lee loved people, most of all her family. She embodied an uncanny ability to listen, empathize, and relate to any individual regardless of circumstance, hear them, love them, and encourage them. Ready to share a laugh, tears, or a note of gratitude, she personified grace and truth. A commonly shared description of Wendy is that "she could make you feel like the most important person" and to her, at that moment, you were. She did this best with her own family, often delivering even more love, clearer perspective, a greater purpose, undeserved forgiveness, encouragement, and confidence despite her circumstance. Her family was everything, and she considered a lot of people family. Wendy was preceded in death by her father, William. She is survived by her husband Duane, her sons Spencer and Stewart, daughters-in-law Lindsay and Jaclyn, her mother Joan, her sisters Rainy (Dan), Midge (Dale), and brother Bill (Sharon), grandchildren Maxwell, Royce, Otis, and many much-loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, in-laws, and friends. Wendy's public celebration of life service will be in Spokane, WA - find details at www.wendyleeramsey.com as the family makes arrangements.

I remember walking into Wendy's kitchen and being greeted by wonderful smells of chocolate chip cookies being baked. She would always offer a bit of cookie dough on a spoon for me to sample. This would be followed by warm conversation where I always knew she would be fully present.

I am so very saddened to hear this news. Wendy was a light in this world. Even though we only saw each other sporadically over the past decades, the times I spent with her were precious. She stands out in my mind as one of the most vivacious, kind and just plain old good people I´ve met in this life. She was a true force of nature.I so miss her. My warmest wishes to Duane, Stewart, Spencer and the rest of her beautiful family .

Wendy was such a wonderful friend and mentor to me. She inspired and supported me through early motherhood, building our homes and families next to one another, through middle age until we had to say good-bye. For now, anyway. Always a caring listening and relating to whatever was going on, she was inspirational by her honesty and genuine caring for me, as well as her through her intellectual pursuits and passion for life. Certainly one of the bravest and most positive people I have ever known as she fought her disease. She was a dedicated and astute researcher into her disease and kept up with her docs. I will always hold her close to my heart and continue to be inspired by her strength and grace, as she is a part of me now.

One thing that stands out for my husband and I is she has made our lives so much richer by knowing her. There’s so many good things it’s impossible to list them all. She’ll be greatly missed but never forgotten.
