Wesley Steven Bennett 46, of Horseshoe Bend Idaho, was tragically taken from his family on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006. You are invited to the memorial graveside service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006 at the Sweet Cemetery. Then please join the family at the Park in Horseshoe Bend for a gathering to be held at noon following the memorial service. Local arrangements are with the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. Wes was born on Dec. 6, 1959 in Oakland, Calif. to William and Meta Bennett. As a child Wes loved to hunt at his grandpa's cabin. He also enjoyed working with his grandfather at the family crane yard in Richmond, Calif. At an early are Wes learned the importance of hard work and high moral integrity, things he carried with him throughout his life. Wes attended San Lorenzo Valley High in Felton, Calif. where he met the love of his life, Kristy. From this union Wesley, Zackory and Kristyn were born. As a young man he made his living in the woods cutting fire wood and doing tree jobs. In 1989 the family moved to Mariposa, Calif. where Wes drilled water wells for five years. In 1994 the family moved to Idaho where he continued drilling wells until 1997. Wes was a highly skilled mechanic and a proud member of the logging community where he formed eternal friendships. There is nowhere he would rather be than in the woods. In 2005 he realized the dream of owning his own logging truck and property in Idaho. However, the dream to build his own home, retire and work on his own inventions will tragically never become a reality. Wes was filled with stories and many a joke and loved telling them to family and friends. Wes drew people in with his infectious laugh and smile. He enjoyed photographing his back country travels from his log truck and had a deep passion and respect for firearms. Wes was a proud life member of the NRA. Wes is survived by his soulmate Kristy Selby and their children, Wesley Richard Andrew, 25, Zackory Kellett, 22, and Kristyn Marie Bennett, 20. He will be profoundly missed by his family and lifelong friends. He was loved by so many friends, that there are too many to name. You all know who you are. Contributions can be made to the Wes Bennett family fund at Payette River Community Credit Union in either Emmett or Horseshoe Bend.
