Born: July 13, 1939; in Morris, IL

Died: January 29, 2018; in Seneca, IL

Mr. Wesley L. Larsen passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 in his Seneca, IL home at the age of 78.

He was born July 13, 1939 in Morris, the second of five children of Clifford and Florence Larsen.

Wes is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou (McClellan); and their children, Terri (Kevin) Caputo, Morris, Brad (Tammy Sment) Larsen, Seneca, Paul (Annette Dropek) Larsen, Bloomington, and Michael Larsen, Seneca. His grandchildren are Corinne (Jason) Erickson, Chad (Jill Maierhofer) Caputo, Mariah (Bryan) Benda, Kelly Larsen, Brooke Larsen, Noah Larsen and Bailey Larsen; great-grandchildren, Caden, Makaila and Connor Erickson, Aniston and Trent Caputo and Haven Benda. Also surviving are his brothers, Duane (Margaret) Larson of Plainfield, Richard (Linda) Larsen of Morris; a sister, Carol Stephens of Morris; and a sister-in-law, Bette Larsen of Iuka, MS.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death of one brother, Larry.

He was born and raised in Morris, graduating from Morris High School with the class of 1957, and studied at Joliet Junior College and IVCC. Wes was an avid Morris Redskin, playing while in high school, and not missing a home game until sickness prevented him from attending, at which time he listened to it on the radio. His work years included 16 years with the Technical Engineers division of Local 130, and then 20 years with the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers. He traveled extensively with the Corps of Engineers and also privately with Mary Lou and their family. Wes had earlier enjoyed being a member of the Seneca Bowling League, Seneca Grade School board of education, Lions Club and Our Savior's Lutheran Church council. A bright spot in his life included riding his scooter, fishing, and his wide and varied collections made over the years. Wes battled cancer, both Sarcoma and Carcinoma, for 6 1/2 years before his death, and fought hard. He never lost his love of life and family, his laugh, and his quick wit.

A memorial service in Wes's honor was held Saturday, February 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Seneca, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
