The Cardinals won the series after my last year of high school. I enjoyed the continued success he had with them in 1985 and 1987. His live interview after the loss to the Royals showed how fearless he was. I saw him at Anaheim Stadium after moving to LA just before he took the GM job with the Angels. He was very polite and spoke despite passing me by in a deep conversation with someone. I was big fan of the Cardinal players m; but a bigger fan of him because of his leadership style. RIP

I am wanting to send my condolences!! My dad past away 7 years ago. He always said if he had another like he would be a left handed pitcher for the cardinals. So I when I heard the news hit about Whitey death. I am sure he is managing the cardinal greats that we already lost. I am sure my dad is smiling when Whitey shown up to coach! My dad, Lou Brock, and Jack Buck are probably training for the World Series in Heaven! My dad always tried to get me involved for girl baseball since I am lifted handed. My dad gave up when I turned to volleyball and to music. Apparently, Whitey was at Stlukes therapy health club when my dad had surgery and therapy at St.luke many years ago. Apparently they had a great conversation. God is hugging your family close!

I was able to serve Whitey and Marilou in my business. One of my greatest experiences was sitting across Whitey's desk at his house and talking baseball

I am 71 years old and have always loved my St. Louis Cardinals!!! My parents went on one of the Cardinals cruises, and one evening they decided to go in the movie theatre on board and enjoy some game replays. They were the only people in the theatre. My Daddy got excited telling me what happened next. Whitey Herzog came into the theatre and sat with them. They pulled up a game, and Whitey called the game for the whole film! Daddy and Mama were thrilled! And now they are thrilled to see him again in Heaven! My Daddy passed away May 25, 2018, and My Mama passed away April 8, 2024, 4 days before my birthday. RIP all, and enjoy each other's company forever!

My heart goes out to the Herzog family. I have so many memories growing up and going to school at Northwood with David and Jimmy. Our Moms and Dads. Mr. Herzog got a lot of the kids in the neighborhood jobs on the ground crew at Royals (Kaufman Stadium) and always took time for my dad and others to discuss the baseball strategies from the last game, up at Cosentino's grocery store in the old neighborhood. Times were much simpler then.

My deepest heart felt condolences to Mary Lou and family... Whitey generously gave his time on several occasions to help a friend and I when we were working on a social entrepreneurship called SportsBanc. Every time I went to see him, he would make sure I left with a gift, signed photos, white rat jersey, signed book, signed baseball... Always jovial, so damned smart, and full of gratitude for life itself. When out in public with him it was so amazing to see how many people would instantly recognize him and approach him because they so admired him. And he always treated those folks with grace, kindness, and respect. He once told me that his strategy for doing interviews was to take as long as he could to answer the first question to limit the number of questions LOL! Like so many, many people, I will forever cherish my memories of Whitey Herzog. Small Ball, Big Heart.
I love baseball

Simply one of the greatest managers in the history of the game. Whitey was brilliant in so many respects, and his always exciting teams executed remarkably and consistently well. He was quite the character, too!
Safe at home, Whitey.

He really brought so much joy and pride to St. Louis. Was able to meet him at a St. Louis Homebuilders Association dinner. He told stories and declared baseballs were "juiced", causing so many home runs. His signed 1982 NL pennant is on display at my parents house.
