1941 - 2016
Wiebke Ludewig (nee Frirdich) died in hospital on May 28, 2016 in Gatineau. She was 74. Wiebke was born on September 2, 1941 in Hamburg, Germany. She had a love for travel, and was fortunate to have the experience of living in both Sweden and California, before settling in Canada. Wiebke had a passion for literacy and the arts. She truly enjoyed the opera and the ballet, and had the pleasure of seeing many of the famed stars on the stage. Wiebke was a longtime volunteer and member of the SPCA of Western Quebec. She also volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital for ten years. Wiebke will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Erwin Ludewig, her stepdaughter Astrid (Peter) and by her sister in Hamburg, Germany, Ursula. Relatives and friends are invited to a gathering, in a celebration of her life, on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. at Racine, Robert & Gauthier Beauchamp Funeral Home 47, Denise Friend Gatineau (Aylmer). In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wiebke can be made to the SPCA of Western Quebec.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Wiebke Ludewig, a dear friend of the people and animals at the SPCA of Western Quebec and a devoted volunteer for many years. She worked tirelessly to assist in any way she could, from helping animals and clients at the shelter to fundraising for the SPCA, making such a difference for all who experienced her kindness.
Thank you, Wiebke - we miss you so.

I was truly shocked at Wiebke's passing ... a truly lovely, generous lady. She was a valued member of the crafts group, part of the Catholic Women's Guild of St. Mark's Church in Aylmer. Rest in peace, Wiebke.
