ASHTABULA — Wiley Burkhart, age 74, of Geneva and formerly of North Carolina, died Friday morning, December 28, 2007, at University Hospitals in Cleveland.Wiley was born August 31, 1933 in Reading, Pennsylvania, the son of Mabel and Elmer Balsbagh. He worked as a chef in Cleveland Mon Ami, Catawba Island and many will remember him.Wiley collected Native American Arrowheads, many of which he found in the Sandusky area. He also enjoyed fishing, horse races and spending time with his family. Wiley will be sadly missed by his friends, Chrystle and Kenny, and all those who knew him.Survivors include his wife, Jean, whom he married May 18, 1956; six children, Wendy Clayman, Wiley (Betty) Burkhart, Stehpany (Curtis) Perry, Monty (Laura) Burkhart, Angelica (Simeon) Lynch, and Courtney (Elvin) Santiago; brothers, Earl Balsbaugh and Norman Burkhart; sisters, Virginia Engling and Sandra Stief and families; and several aunts. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Alesandra, Janet, Connie, Adam, Allie, Beth, Whitney, Brittany, Kathy, Chrissy, Kasey, Nikolas, Andrew, Shawn, Marla, Lorenna, James, Sam, Paul, Robert and Jerry; and numerous great-grandchildren;He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Mabel Burkhart and Elmer and Katie Balsbaugh; his daughter, Sierra; one niece, Cathy Stief; and great-grandchildren, Exzaver and Ethan.Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at the BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, Ohio.Funeral services will be held at a later date.
