Wilfred Mack Flemmings

Wilfred Mack Flemmings was born in Austin, TX on February 3, 1921 to Frazier and Essie Flemmings who both preceded him in death.

Wilfred accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. Attending the Austin Public Schools, he became very famous as the star Quarterback of the great

Anderson High School (Yellow Jackets)where he graduated from and was known throughout the South. He met Ogereda M Davis while there and they later married. Two children were born to this union, Mack Tyrone Flemmings and Judy O'Jean Flemmings. Uniting with the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. S.L.Davis, he became very active in the Brotherhood, Men's Chorus, Senior Choir, and Benevolence Ministry. Later he met and married Marjorie Ealey who preceded him in death and to this union a son was born, Edward Fleming.

Wilfred worked for the City of Austin until retirement and the East end Cab Company. His DNA in sports was very strong producing sons who were very athletic. His oldest son Mack was an outstanding baseball player who got a call from the NBL Minnesota Twins (but chose not to accept), his other son Edward was a tough (Linebacker) at North Texas State University, Denton, Texas (All American, All Decade Southland Conference 1980-90, Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All American Southland Conference) It didn't stop there. Going on to another generation his grandson Don E. King Jr. (Quarterback) SMU Dallas, Texas (4 year Varsity Letterman, All Southwest Conference QB, Honorable Mention All-American & 3 Bowl Games) and then played in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers. His grandson Mack Flemmings Jr., who was another great baseball player at Redlands College in El Reno, Oklahoma. Going on to another generation his great grandson Don E. King III (Quarterback) Sam Houston State University Huntsville, TX /Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock Pennsylvania (4 year Letterman SHSU, 1 year starting QB, broke school record-most TD's in one game (7TD's) SRU). His sons Mack and Edward are Pastors of the gospel of Jesus Christ. His daughter Judy recently retired as Owner/Stylist of Oggie's Beauty Boutique Dallas, TX. Also a retired musician of Freedom Baptist Church and active Coordinator over the Women's Ministry & Overseer of the Music Ministry. He was known as Jovial person, never meeting a stranger and will highly be missed by all of us. We are so very glad to be a part of his legacy.

Preceding him in death: both parents, Granddaughter Tori King-Antoine, and great granddaughter Kersti Suber.

King of Dallas, Texas; Son: Edward Fleming (Diane) of Austin, Texas; 12 Grandchildren: Sonja Tyson of Duncanville, Texas; Kellie Johnson (Jimmy) Desoto, Texas; Don King Jr (Paula) Waxahachie, Texas; YaMonica Sadberry (Larry) of Duncanville, Texas; Lori King-Bizor (David) Desoto, Texas; Mack Flemmings Jr. of Dallas, Texas; Quentin Aldridge, E.J. Fleming (Christie), Ambrosia Fleming, Shanique Fleming, Christian Fleming and Victoria Fleming all of Austin, Texas; 18 Great Grandchildren and 15 Great-Great Grandchildren; and 1 brother Donald Joe Jennings (Versa Mae).
