Willbert Von

On July 7, 2024, Willbert Von departed this life peacefully in Baltimore, MD. Born on September 18, 1945, in the gentle climes of North Carolina, Willbert's life was marked by unwavering service, commitment to family, and an enduring love for his community.

A dedicated Marine, Willbert honorably served his country for four years, displaying the virtues of courage and loyalty. His transition from military life to a civilian role saw him become a pillar of support for the youth as a counselor, a noble profession he fulfilled for thirty years with grace and dedication.

Willbert was a man of deep faith, actively involved in his church, where he found strength and solace. His life was further enriched by his love for grilling and his steadfast engagement in community activism, through which he made lasting contributions to the well-being of those around him.

Educated in the heart of Baltimore, from Johnston Square Elementary to Benjamin Franklin High School, and furthering his studies at The Baltimore City College, Willbert's love for learning was as much a part of him as his love for his hometown.

He leaves behind a loving family: his brother Robert Von; his daughter Patrica Von; and his granddaughters, Shavonne George and Nhia Thomas. Willbert was preceded in passing by his parents, William and Aretha Von, and his sister, Gloria Von.

The funeral service will be held at Chatman Harris Funeral Home, 4210 Belair Rd, Baltimore, MD 21206. The family invites friends and relatives to join them in honoring the memory of a man whose life was a testament to duty, compassion, and integrity.
