William Arden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 14, 2025.
William Ward Arden, Jr. age 72 passed away unexpectedly in Cadiz, Spain, on June 20, 2025.

Born June 10, 1953, and raised on the Jersey Shore, Bill lived in Toms River, New Jersey much of his life. He loved ocean swimming, surfing, and lifeguarding. On land, he played chess, basketball and tennis.

Bill had a thirst for knowledge and completed his undergraduate degree at Swarthmore College, PA. He pursued advanced degrees in Education from Georgian Court University, Electronic Engineering from Monmouth University and Mathematics (Pure Math) from Stevens Institute of Technology. He published and presented Scientific and AI papers in the US and at the Imperial College in London, England. He spent much of his career as a defense contractor at NAIC, Mitre, Telos, and KPMG.

Quick witted, Bill loved puns. He was known by family and friends as "pun master." He was prepared with the clever and creative title, "Pun-ishment" if he ever published a book of jokes.

He loved travel and truly appreciated learning about other cultures and religious beliefs. That interest took him to Europe, Africa, Asia and across North and Central America.

He and his wife, Marcelle moved to Florida in 2007 and found themselves living on the Treasure Coast, enjoying the ocean everyday since.

Bill spent several years volunteering as an usher at the Sunrise Theatre, Fort Pierce; docent at Art Mundo, Fort Pierce; and docent at Vero Museum of Art, Vero Beach.

He had an uncanny ability to converse with anyone on any topic with interest and respect.

Most important in William Arden's life was his family. Dad to us, Bill to others, was a special man, a great presence in our lives. He will be deeply missed by all of us whose lives he touched. If you were in his inner circle, you knew it.

Bill, Dad, you will always be forever in our hearts.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Marcelle Van Eron Arden and their nine children (his pride and joy): Cheri Yoder (Mark), Christopher Anderson (Brenda), Marcelle Winters (Jim), Gregory Pederson (Carrie), Jessica Arden Forte (Mark), Joshua Arden (Michael Kitson), Abigail Berard (Jonathan), Toan Nguyen (Lisa) and Tam Nguyen (Michelle). He also had nineteen grandchildren: Sarah, Alexis, Ashley, Allyson, Alicia, Michael, Matthew, Sebastian, Courtney, Amelia, Madeleine, Kevin, Colette, Curren, Theodora, and step grandchildren: Zack, Justin, Brayden and Sophia. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Arden (Suzanne) and sister, Cynthia Meyer (George). He was preceded in death by both his parents, William W. Arden Sr. and Dorothy M. Arden.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Bill was my good friend and playfully we used to tell people we were brothers ! Twins ! The blues brothers ! The fettuccine brothers (Alfredo and al dente) he was my fratello ! But he really was a brother to me and I loved him like a brother !
Although we did not see each other often it was always great when we did and it was always a joke fest and we tried to outdo each other with jokes !
He has been in my mind since I got the news and will always be in my heart. I will miss him immensely and I cannot believe I will not see him again ! My condolences and love to Marcelle and all the family

I feel blessed that I was able to meet Bill Arden and his beautiful wife and family through our friendship with Jessica. He was such a kind and intelligent man, and showed such love for his family. I know this loss was so sudden and raw, but know that he will forever live in all of our hearts and memories.
