Artus, William

William L. Artus, 86, of Wausau, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Aspirus Hospice House. He was born on March 18, 1929, in Edgar, WI, to William and Magdalena (Fochs) Artus. On May 5, 1953 he married Dorothy Jagodzinski in Wuerzburg, WI.

William served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era as a Private First Class. He was a barber by trade and owned his shop on Third Ave. in Wausau, Bill's Barbershop, for 45 years. He was a member of St. Anne Parish and held memberships in Knights of Columbus, Elks, American Legion Montgomery-Plant-Dudley Post 10, and Barbershop Chorus. William enjoyed bowling and bowled in a league at Day's-Bowl-A-Dome for many years. He also liked visiting and delivering meals with Dorothy as volunteers for Aspirus. They traveled together and took trips all over the world.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Becky (Frank) Fernando and Mary (Michael) Rohloff; grandchildren, Kyle Glamann, Jamie (Phil) Pospyhalla, and Ryan Rohloff; sisters and brother, Gladys Johnson, Violet "Tiny" Dvorak, Dorie (James) Novitzke, and Myron "Mike" (Margaret) Artus; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Artus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Magdalena; brother, Conrad "Wally"; and sisters, Eleanor, Mabel, Adeline, and Evelyn.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015, at St. Anne Parish, 700 West Bridge St., Wausau, with Father Matthew Marshall officiating. Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 17, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, and again at the church on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, town of Texas. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Montgomery-Plant-Dudley Post 10.
