William Bihn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 3, 2017.
IVANHOE, N.C. -- On Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, the world lost one of the greatest storytellers. William "Bill" Bihn had a contagious laugh and a smile that will forever be remembered.

He made and maintained lifelong friends everywhere he lived. Bill grew up in Sussex and also lived in Venice, Cocoa Beach, and Orlando, Fla., and most recently in Ivanhoe, N.C.

He bravely served in Vietnam from '68-'69 in the Army's 25th Infantry "Electric Strawberries." He worked at Disney World in Orlando, Fla., for the first year it was open. He later worked for the New Jersey Zinc Co. and was a union driller with the #472 labor union.

He leaves behind his beloved fiancée, Ellen Goodson Siegel, and brother, Bruce Bihn, who were by his side up until the end. He also leaves behind brother, Robert "Bob" Bihn; sister, Bonny (Mike) Rich; nieces Erica (Ryan) Thoman, Amanda Rich and Rena Merklinger; and nephews Robert (Sally) Bihn, and William "Will" Bihn.

Memorial service will be upcoming at the American Legion Post 0123 in Sussex, N.J.

I also didn't know BIll, but after hearing all the lovely stories about him, I sure do wish I did. My Grandfather had a huge box of arrow heads and I used to love to go through them as a child, I wish I had the chance to see BIll's also. RIP

I didn't know Bill, but my dad, Wendell Ayers, played poker with him. Dad passed on several stories that were told by Bill. He so enjoyed time spent with him. And I enjoyed the stories. Sorry for your loss.

Bill was a gem and a kind and gentle soul. He made me laugh and cry, a good kind of cry. I called him Beanie. He told me that people called his dad Beanie. I do not know why but he will always be Beanie to me. Bill honored life, as we now honor and remember him. I will never forget. Peace to all.

Bruce, Bill will never be forgotten, he was a wonderful friend to myself and my kids. Bill would take Jason out to hunt arrow head but Jason did not have the "eye" as Bill would say. Such a wonderful event you are planning.

Bruce, You know what a special brother Bill was! He was also a great friend that will always be remembered for his stories, his laugh and most of all his sincere friendship. We will never forget him!
May he rest in peace,
Chris, Margie, Chris, and Nick

"No matter where you go, there you are." Bill's words from over five decades ago resonate now. I have no doubt that, wherever you are, Bill, there are stories being told, contagious laughter being spread, and probably more than a few angel cats slinking around. Peace, old friend.
