Thanks for everything you did for me, Mrs. Bjornstad. I will miss you, but I know someday we shall meet again.

Noni Bjornstad was my First Grade teacher and was one of the best teachers I ever had. She had a knack for drawing out the quiet kids (yes, I was quiet when I was a kid) and finding all of her students skills and talents. When I think of what a teacher of children is supposed to be, Mrs. Bjornstad is who comes to mind. I was in her class in 1977, I saw her at Cub about 4 years ago. Even after all that time (and me having a beard) she recognized me before I recognized her.
Peace be upon you and your husband, and may your family & friends find joy in your having lived instead of sorrow that you are gone.

Very sad to learn that Mrs. Bjornstad, my 1st grade teacher ('77-'78) at Mississippi Elementary, passed away this past January. Her husband just a couple months later. I wish I had known of their life celebration this past May right up the road from my house. I had no idea. I don't have a big list of "favorite" teachers, but she was definitely atop, and this was one of the school years I can remember like yesterday. On top of making it fun to go to school, I'll never forget how supportive and encouraging she was of my reading ability, drawing (mainly "Star Wars" characters), and other artwork, and always tried to get more out of me, which was very influential. But on top of everything else, she took the time to tutor me when I was sick during the '80-'81 school year. I'd go back to visit her at the school at times, but I last saw her at the Coon Rapids K-Mart in 1994. I'm very sad to hear she passed, but am grateful to have known her. My condolences to her family. She was and always will be my favorite teacher.
