Being 12 years older than I, Bill was my canary in the cage, telling me at my 60th birthday party that the coming decade was the adolescence of old age. The 70s, he said, if you´re lucky, are ok, but things start to pop up and, well by the 80s, you´re truly old. Somehow he was never really old. A few months before his death, he entertained me in his living room. We talked of books of course and life. He was so alive as he always will be in my memory.

I just heard about this and I am so very sorry! Bill was kind and tender and light-hearted and enthusiastic and so smart--a great reader who introduced me to wonderful poets and supported me in my own writing, as did his Gloria. I will miss Bill forever. I hope there will be a memorial of some sort--if there is, I would like to join the mob--because it will be mobbed.

Bill was a dear friend. He enriched the lives of all his friends and all the people in his community. He was a great supporter of the environment. We loved walking with him in the Marin Headlands, savoring the beautiful landscape, the marine mammals and birds, and Bill's incredible mind.

It's true, Bill Broder bubbled up when you met him, he was so full of life and uplifted spirit. I was lucky enough to be part of the Amazing Life Games team back in those days before "computer games". Bill's "The Sacred Hoop" is one of the best books anyone could want to read.

Bill had the kindest soul, and the most intelligent mind. We all benefited from his thoughtfulness, and will miss him always.
