William Coleman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 3 to Nov. 5, 2021.
William (Bill) Cecil Coleman, 75, passed away in Hattiesburg, MS on November 1 after an extended illness. He was born and raised in St. Louis MO and earned degrees from University of Missouri-St. Louis and California College of Podiatric Medicine. In 1981 he married the love of his life, and they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. He was a Vietnam veteran, having proudly served in the U.S. Army. As a podiatrist, he was a leading expert and International speaker on the insensate foot with multiple articles on the contact cast, diabetes, and Hanson's Disease. Although Bill earned a living as a successful podiatrist, he had a wide variety of interests, both intellectual and recreational. He especially liked to find out how things worked. With his untiring and inquisitive mind, he often dabbled in many areas until something new would pique his interest. He discovered (and often lost) interest in archery, roller blading, pinball, model trains, soccer, football, baseball, sail boats (2 in ten years!), all kinds of bicycles, swords, remote control cars and helicopters, animals, motorcycles, cars (one a year until his wife put her foot down!), anything about Egypt, any show with old men talking about Egypt, audio books, tarot cards, computers and all things electronic, game systems, el programa de televisión en español Sábado Gigante, wines and vineyards (the California years), teas from Teavana, .....(are we seeing a pattern here?). Bill believed in F-words: Family, Faith, and Food. He had a keen interest in the study of religion and a palate for anything he deemed as tasty. But his crowning achievement was being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife and soul-mate Imelda Cuellar Coleman of Hattiesburg, daughter Berry Brooks Lohman (Lance) and granddaughter Maya of New Orleans, son William Cuellar Coleman (Brenna) and grandson William of Tampa FL, sisters Margaret (Peggy) Rectenwald (Don) of St. Augusta MO and Nancy Coleman-Frantz (Richard) of Bennington VT. His family members especially remember sweet Bill as a kind loving compassionate man, wonderful to everyone, a hoot to be with, and a dry sense of humor. A Celebration of Life will be held at Moore Funeral Home at 805 Hardy Street on November 5, 2021. A Visitation will be held from 9:30 am and service at 11:30 am.Please join us for lunch after the service at 509 Roni Street, Hattiesburg.
