William Kent Cox Sr.

Funeral services for William Kent Cox, Sr., 63, of Lufkin will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2008, in the Harmony Hill Baptist Church, Lufkin, with Dr. John W. Greene officiating. Interment will follow in the Broaddus Cemetery. Mr. Cox was born October 16, 1944, in Nacogdoches County, Texas, to Angeline Sheard and Fletcher Cox, and died Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at his residence Mr. Cox had resided in Lufkin most of his life and was a retired mechanical maintenance supervisor from the Lufkin paper mill. He enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved taking care of his neighbors, enjoyed his church work with Harmony Hill Baptist Church, and was a volunteer at Central ISD. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Cox of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Cheryl Cox of Plano; daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Chris Block of Friendswood and Kathy and Bob Leedy of Lufkin; stepsons and wives, Danny and Deborah Gorman of Austin and Mark and Liz Gorman of Lufkin; 16 grandchildren; brothers, Laverne Cox of Rusk, Paul Cox of Nacogdoches, Donald Cox of Lufkin and Kenneth Cox of North Carolina; sister, Louise Sprayberry of Nacogdoches; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Robert William Leedy; sister, Audrey Johnson; brothers, Gerald Ray Cox and Roger Cox; and two baby siblings. Pallbearers for his service will be Floyd Parish, Marion Rhodes, Mike Hamilton, Langston Cox, Timmy Johnson and Mack Ireland. Honorary pallbearers will be the David Boles Small Group of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.
