SUMMERFIELD — William Shelby Cummings, Jr., 82, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Blumenthal Jewish Nursing & Rehab Center.
A 1 p.m. funeral service will be held Monday, March, 21, 2011 at Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel with Rev. Suzanne Michael and Elder Bill Knight officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillsdale Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
A Guilford County native, William Shelby Cummings, Jr. was born February 25, 1929, the son of the late William Shelby Cummings, Sr. and Annie Walker Cummings. He was a graduate of Summerfield High School and attended Kings Business College. He was of the Christian faith. Mr. Cummings retired from Justice Drug Company. His favorite pastimes were traveling and camping.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Naomi Cummings.
He is survived by four sons, William Shelby Cummings, III and wife Jo Ann of Kingsport, TN., David Martin Cummings and wife Amanda of Summerfield, Alan Walker Cummings and wife Barbara of Chattanooga, TN. and Kenneth Earl Cummings and wife Jill of Virginia Beach, VA.; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Monday, March, 21, 2011, at Forbis and Dick North Elm Chapel.
The family will also be receiving friends at the home of David and Mandy Cummings at 1076 NC Hwy 150 W., Summerfield NC, 27358.
Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to Center United Methodist Church, 6142 Lake Brandt Road, Greensboro, NC 27455 and Hillsdale Primitive Baptist Church, on Scalesville Rd., off Hwy 220.

We especially want to remember the David Cummings family, we know that Bill was so loved and cherished by all his family, our love and prayers to David, Mandi, Caroline, and Brandon.
